Ron - right there!Ron - right there!Ron - right there!

That's Ron's hat in the lower left corner, and that's a bare back rider in the arena.
Hello Everyone,
Yesterday we went to the Stampede - Ron's very first and boy did we ever get a deal! Firstly, the rain did not fall on us all day! then, we were admitted free because it was "seniors' day" then when we went to get our tickets for the rodeo which I had been checking on-line in New Zealand and cost at least $60 each, well these ones were free! admittedly they weren't front and centre but we could see all the action and we were right there. We saw the whole action from the bulldogging, bareback, saddle broncs, bull riding etc. There were even some native Indians dancing. In the Saddledome (home of the Calgary Flames) there were huge marching bands competing and we managed to find them and enjoy - we had a smokie, chips and a sprite for lunch in Wedickville (a little western "village" on the stampede grounds) had chats with the locals as we ate at the communal table, wandered around and marvelled at the ability of the people to endure the "rides" and walk away without looking distressed at all, rode the C train there and back the whole day cost us $39! That included lattes and those little donuts. We haven't gone western - Ron wore his blue jeans though. Sunday we go back down to the stampede grounds for the chuck wagons with the family so will report on that later. Catan games have been good too. Last Sunday we went to the church I used to attend in the local community centre. The building is the same but only two ladies remembered me - I'm ashamed to admit that I remembered only one but since managed to recall the other lady. The preacher has changed a couple of times since then. This one - Mark was good value though his message (a worthwhile one) took a bit long to come out. We knew some of the songs, which was nice. Just a small congregation though. Very friendly!
P.S. Ron's hat in the photo is the brown fishing hat.
Lots of love from us both to you all.

Hi Mum and Ron. Great to hear you are having a fantastic time and getting bargains along the way..... We have had a week of sickness in our home. Both kids have been unwell- Ryan had an episode of croop early Monday morning and he has only gone to school today (Thurs). Nicole has also been off all week with the flu, high fevers achy body and a good dose of coughing. But they will get better. It has been pretty cold throughout NZ as a storm that has lasted a week has moved over us. Lots of snow in the south and on the mtn ranges, thunderstorms and strong winds. We have faired ok just keeping out of it. We are all looking forward to the school holidays. Next week Peter and I start on the Elijah House A course, Mum and Dad will look after the kids. Hello to everyone. Has the DVD we made arrived at Russ and Mini's? This blog is great - thanks for keeping us in the loop. Love Fiona
