Trip so far

Georgetown is wicked! The Rodeo was in town & we spent Sunday there from around 9am. We initially looked at skipping Georgetown so we could spend an extra day in this area (Karumba) but I am so glad we didn’t. I had the time of my life, grabbing photos of riders, talking to locals & indulging in 20 VB cans or so. Due to the lack of good beer up here & my reduced budget I have moved over to VB as everything else in the cheap skate price range has no taste. We saw all of the event types & the kids & us had the greatest time. In the arvo the girls took the kids to the local pool & the boys stayed to watch the arvo card which was barrel racing & the boys on the big bulls.

One other great thing is the weather. Once we moved out of the tablelands the weather picked up enormously. Georgetown didn’t have a cloud in the sky for the two days odd we were there & now Karumba is just as good, if not a little warmer. Phil, Tony & I are doing a fishing charter tomorrow arvo. Knowing our collective luck so far, it could be a disaster, but I’m hoping, hoping, hoping for something special.

In the morning we may try our chance off the beach. I had a swim this arvo & as I was typing this I was sitting in my Reg Grundies waiting for my shorts to dry. This lovely lady comes over & offers us some prawns for bait. Luckily I have my computer on my lap as the sight of me in my smalls excites no-one, I am sure. Unluckily my sis-in-law keeps saying “Mick get up & take the prawns”. I’m saying “Nah, I’m right”. The poor lady didn’t realise what was going on so I had to bite the bullet & come clean in ridiculous smalls & all. She thought it was hilarious. Not the reaction a bloke wants when all he has on is his Reggies......

Anyway, things are going really well. We’re all enjoying ourselves, breaking the bank & having fun. Maybe we won’t come back after all!!!
