Friday 1st July
Parked at Drezniske Ravne and walked up to the outdoor museum which is made up of some fortifications from the first world war, very interesting but in the middle of nowhere!
Sunday 3rd July
So, on to Lake Bled, the navigator failed miserably again, (I blame it on the rubbish map) I didn't notice the “wiggly” bit on the map, resulting in 50 hairpin bends over the col at Vrsic. Both Phil and Myrtle took it very well but it was mega steep!
Lake Bled is very pretty but a bit touristy with lots of boards listing all the things you are not allowed to do. We took a stroll round the lake and couldn't resist eating more yummy ice creams while we watched boat loads of tourists being ferried out to the little church on the island.
On to Lake Bohinj we decided not to stay at the 30 euro a night camp-site and opted for a cheaper one back up the road, nice and quiet except for the church bells at 5:30am in the morning!
Out with the bikes today, cycled up to the lake and Phil decided to ignore the 'No Bikes' sign and cycle round the lake. It soon became evident why they said no bikes, the path turned narrow and rocky with big tree roots and after I had fallen off twice I gave up and pushed (and carried) my bike the rest of the way round the lake.
Back at camping we both took a quick dip in the river, I only lasted about 30 seconds , it was soooo cold! Phil took a longer swim but failed to catch one of the many trout that were in the river. So for dinner so we had to settle for pork on the BBQ instead.
Photos to follow.
