The last couple of days have been just fantastic.
We spent Wednesday at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens with my Granny and Oupa, these gardens are all indigenous plants and trees and have an incredible waterfall at the far end with a nest of Black Eagles that have made it their home. We were fortunate enough to just sneak a peak of one of the eagle's perched in its nest. We had a great day out and a fantastic lunch. This is one of my Grandparent's favourite places. What was more remarkable than anything else though, is that we managed to get my Granny in a wheelchair! We still don't quite know how it happened but we got her in one, which meant that she could come with us right through the garden. It also meant that Aaron and I got a bit of a workout after spending four days being fairly idle. Pushing a fully grown woman in a wheel chair is no easy feat.
Thursday was something I never thought I would be able to show Aaron, but we got to spend a day in the Magaliesberg Ranges with my Uncle and some of his friends. My
Uncle's friends, El Marie and Peter, spend most of their holidays camping in this spot and we are so grateful that they could take us there. It is about a two hour drive out of Johannesburg. We climbed up this very steep mountain/hill made of quartz where there was a river rolling down the mountain which had developed a number of natural pools on the way down. I have never seen anything so beautiful in my life. Aaron, Peter and Chappie all braved the cold water and went for a dip, and then proceeded to sun themselves on the rocks... It was great. We then went to the top of the hill where we had a proper South African Braai (proper bushman style on an open fire), over looking the country side.
After spending the afternoon in the sun we started making our way back down the hill, unfortunately Aaron had a couple of pretty bad falls on the slippery quartz, but hey what's a holiday without some war wounds. To top off a perfect day, we saw a family of baboons running across the road. We could not have asked for a better day.

O wow that is beautiful! And that is one very big jump into a lake/pond :) Looks like you are both really enjoying yourselves - looking forward to your next blog! I'll make sure Marc reads this when he gets home :)
