Our flight over /the pond’ was taken on the maiden voyage of Iceland Express out of Boston. Whilst the Iceland Express people (management,cabin and gate crew were celebrating with cake, the TSA staff were vetting the plane. for about an hour. Consequently we did not depart until close to 10 PM. On a positive note it made our layover in Iceland shorter and we were able to enjoy the modern terminal and wonderful coffee. Flying into Iceland it was 4C.
We were curious about the size of the airport after having discovered that there are only 2 airlines using it. We were enlightened to discover that it was formerly a US military base.
Our continuing flight going to Gatwick airport, London, was also delayed by over an hour, we were surprised to find they were waiting for a flight from New York. Upon boarding and looking for our seats in row 37, we discovered that there were only 25 rows of seats in the plane. Oops, they changed equipment. Consequently we had to wait until everyone boarded to be given another pair of seats. As it turned out, we sat in the first row,
Flying into England gave us a beautiful view of a green and pleasant land under sunny skies.
Our first full day in Spain found us at our friends farm house in Alhama. We arrived yesterday on Easy Jet from Gatwick and were picked up. So nice to see our friends smiling faces.
After opening up the motor home and doing some unpacking, we quickly walked into the village to shop at the local market. Our friends took us down to Almeria for a luncheon at a restaurant around the corner from where they have an apartment on the waterfront. Four different fish were served to us, freshly caught that morning, followed by ice cream and coffee on the beachfront. A bit of a breeze but a pleasant 28C.
Today, Sunday, was spent organizing the van and preparing for our departure tomorrow.
