At long last, we have made it to Lancaster. The flight from Amsterdam to Manchester was a breeze, and our one night in the city was relaxing and fun. Since we were due to be home in a few short days, I thought it would be nice to ease back in to real life by having a dinner and a movie night. We had burgers and fries at the pub that was attached to the hostel that we stayed in, and went to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean film.

Saturday was set to be one of the busiest days of the year in England, apart from the Royal Wedding. Manchester United was to play Barcelona FC in the Champions League Final football/soccer match. Of course Manchester was already packed full of people when we woke up, so we grabbed the first train we could to my cousin Allie's place in at the Lancaster University campus. I had forgotten exactly where her dorm was, so we found her the easiest way we knew. Nick followed me as I walked around the campus aimlessly, during which he kept yelling, "Allie Friese! Are you there? Does anybody know Allie Friese?" It only took two minutes for her to pop her head out of a window and yell, "Laura!". That was certainly easier than I expected...

We were able to catch the game at a pub called The Friary. It's a really neat, old chapel that was packed from floor to ceiling with Manchester United fans. Barcelona FC triumphed in the end, unfortunately, but we still had a great time chanting and yelling along with the die-hard, blood-thirsty fans.

And here we are... A mere three nights away from being on a plane to Seattle. Nick and I are taking advantage of having loads of free time by washing clothes, reorganizing our luggage, and even getting some exercise that doesn't involve being lost while trying to find a museum! A homemade stew is in the oven, and Nick is studying feverishly for his National EMT Exam that will hopefully take place in June or July. Sounds about normal, eh?

Before I sign off, I would like to thank everyone for following our blog. It has been a heart-warming experience to know that so many people are interested in our life adventures. Your comments have been so kind, and often hilarious. Thanks so much for caring. 😊

Keep us in your prayers during the last few days of our journey, and keep an eye out for more pictures that I'll try and post in the days to follow.

Until next time!
Laura and Nick

Wishing safe return
Hey Laura and Nick! I have enjoyed following your blog so much this last month. You know how I love to live vicariously through your adventures! Honestly, I think my favorite stop was the little farm town town in the mountains that serves cheese and pickles for dinner. I think I might have been Heidi in a past life:) Have a safe and smooth journey home. I miss you and when you're all settled back into Pacific time let me know when I can see you this summer!
