Whitehall, NY, controversially held as the "Birthplace of the American Navy," is within a few miles of the Vermont border. The NYS Barge Canal runs through the little town which is a little quirky - this is NOT an overmulched "Disneyesque" destination. I happened upon Carol's Collectibles & Antique because Wes was on a teleconference on his cell phone and I was driving. From experience, we knew that once we headed for Vermont the call would be cut off for lack of signal strength. I parked at 84 Broadway and Wes stayed in the car on the call while I schmoosed around at Carol's. When Wes's call ended, he came into Carol's. Now, we were both impressed!
The store is huge, probably an old department store, As Carol says " 12,000 square feet of bargins for your shopping pleasure. Wide aisles make it wheelchair accessible. Merchandise varies from vhs and dvd movies and players to quality used furniture, household needs, sterling and costume jewelry, books, toys, new and used tools, and clothing. We also have a wide variety of art glass, pottery, and art works.
