I was driving my family home from a friend’s wedding and commented to my wife how nice the Saturday afternoon weather had turned out. It was a sunny 82 degrees with just a light breeze. The day before had been wet and dreary and it was nice to have some great riding weather. As I was hinting to my lovely wife how much I deserved a little ride this afternoon, my youngest daughter reminded me that she can now reach the foot pegs and would like to go for her first ride. I said yes and mom gave in and relented with an “oh OK “…
I grabbed a map when I walked in the door and planned out a short little ride that would get at least three bonus locations for this year’s Grand Tour. The two of us then changed our clothes and headed out to the Wee. Before we loaded up and headed out, I went over a quick safety check to make sure that Reagan knew what to do while on the back of the bike and made sure she knew where my extra cell phone was in case we had an emergency.

Reagan
Nice helmet! left the house, Reagan was holding onto my waist with a death grip. The closer we got to our first stop she started to relax. By the time we had traveled the twelve miles to Horrell Hill, SC she was barely holding on. I parked the bike and we got our first success for our Grand Tour. Only twenty-nine more to go.
We headed further into Columbia and got onto I-77 and took the short run to Bluff Road (SC-48). Ten minutes later we were in Arthurtown, SC which is a suburb of Columbia. The sign was located next to a new Dollar General. I guess every little town now has a Dollar General store these days.
We left Arthurtown and cut through the University of South Carolina then through Forest Acres to the small town of Arcadia Lakes. The sign was located on the edge of a little lake, one of seven according to the sign. We got our photo and were going to head for home until my daughter asked what I had gotten my wife for mother’s day. Oops … next stop Wal-Mart.
It was a short twenty minute drive over to the Garners
More Reagan
Lets go dad! Ferry Road Wal-mart, were we decide on a new pair of pajamas for mom. While we were there I went ahead and printed off the copies of the three photos from the signs Reagan and I had taken pictures of her first big ride. Next stop home.
When we got home mom was sitting on the front porch anxiously waiting on the safe return of her little baby. Reagan had a great time and was glad to have finally gotten out of the yard on the Wee.

Lookin' Like A Pro ...
This will be such a great memory for her! She looks like a real pro in the "leaving Wal Mart" photo :) Congratulations, Reagan! Wishing you many, many more miles of smiles on 2 wheels!
