Hi all,
Today we caught the Stranraer Ferry from Belfast to Scotland. We got a cab to the ferry as we were not sure of its location and did not want to rely on the local bus as we couldn't afford to miss our Ferry.
We sailed at 11.45am and it was quite a smooth crossing. The Ferries are lovely, almost like being on a cruise ship.
We arrived at Stranraer at about 2.15pm and collected a hire car. We drove north, up the coast to Ayr. The scenery is spectacular along this coast road, and Ayr is a lovely coastal town. We spent some time here wandering along the waterfront and watching people on the beach. There were quite a few people paddling in the water -way too cold for me!!
After our lovely stop at Ayr we drove on to Glasgow. Oh my, the traffic when we were coming into Glasgow was horrific. As we approached the bridge it was gridlock, I said to Steve, "quick take the left lane" and we got off the freeway just before we got stuck on the bridge. It turned out to be a good move as we found very reasonably priced accommodation in a very handy place. We were close to a footbridge to cross the river Clyde and get into the City within a 10 minute walk - sometimes you can be lucky!
We both had an early night tonight - so I am a day late blogging this blog.
We found a restaurant, near our accommodation, that is very similar to a 'Hogs Breath' at home. Very nice and very reasonable in price and, bonus, overlooking the River Clyde. Nice view, nice meal...lovely.
Don't forget to scroll down to see all the pics.
