After a tremendously long 14 ½ hour flight, we finally made it to Shanghai. I am now sitting in the airport waiting for our connection to Chengdu. The culture shock was apparent almost immediately on the flight over from LA. Being one of only a handful of white, english speakers was very interesting. The food on the plane . . .well let’s just say I am grateful for my pretzels and Swedish fish. I don’t travel without them. This is definitely one of the first places I have ever traveled to where I really feel like an outsider. The language and culture differences will be interesting. Nonetheless, I am excited to explore my way through this fascinating culture.
