I visited with the Jave family for most of my stay in Toronto. Carl’s nephew, Joshua, was so happy to see his uncle. We also managed to meet up with a bunch of friends – Alex, Steve, Alistair, Brishen, Joanne, Beth and Richie. Carl talk me walking around half the city including the University of Toronto (UofT), the Art gallery of Ontario (AGO) and the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). The dinosaur fossils section was particularly well presented. We had some fabulous meals including Lobster and Chinese Food. I managed to find a special present for Ann that she will have to wait for until I get back.

We left for the Cayman Islands on a Friday. We flew over Varadero, Cuba during the flight. We walked out from the airport to Georgetown where Carl enjoyed his 32 oz Daiquiri. We got a taxi to the Ramada, a nice hotel by any standard. We started to hike out and hitched a ride from a laundry van. He took us to a locals spot near Georgetown. We stood out like anything but they were great to us. They offered us free chicken soup and jerk chicken. Their music was so loud we could barely hear each other so we moved on to the next place. A beach bar and restaurant near the main harbour was our next stop. We were lucky because all the local kids were there for a birthday so we got an idea of what the locals get up to. From there we hiked up to a bar that the laundry guy had told us about, Aqua Beach. Funnily, we were overtaken on the way be a speed walking girl from the last bar that ended up being the bar tender for the next place. Sure enough, all her friends showed up a little while later so we recognized a bunch of faces. A great night of drinking and dancing followed before we had the long hike back to our hotel, cutting through the golf course on the way. Today we walked the Seven Mile Beach and Carl got a full body burn while I survived remarkably well intact.
