Long haul to Latin America

London-Madrid-Santiago-Punta Arenas-Puerto Natales-Torres Del Paine

Well what else is one supposed to do with a 5 hour transit in Santiago de Chile?
After connecting in Madrid and Santiago we finally arrived at Punta Arenas airport around 6pm on Sunday evening. With over 30 hours travelled we were now only a 3 hour drive from our first overnight stop in Puerto Natales the gateway to Torres Del Paine National Park. Marco met us at the airport as planned having travelled a day earlier. He had enjoyed 24 hours in Punta Arenas where conditions were wet and windy. Indeed Marco's last text message gave me and Jon some idea of what to expect, 'Mate, it's cold it's wet their's no one around, it's like the Falkland Islands here'.

Our accomodation at Erratic Rock 2 is clean and comfortable. It's now 2200 and afte a quick repack we'll get some sleep and be ready for the 0730 bus into the National Park where we will begin the 5 day 'W' trek which will take in some of the finest sights of the Torres Del Paine National Park, Patagonia.
