Fish Massacre!

So Blair and I decide to visit the Key Islands. They are a group of islands a short boat ride away from Utila. They have have amazing snorkeling - just what we are looking for! So we book a trip through our hotel. The boat picks up at 830 the following morning. Its a neat little rustic boat with a local fisherman driver. We hop in.

Riding along, enjoying the sites when we hear the fisherman excitedly say "Fish!". He proceeds to pull the fishing line in, reel a big fish in and pull it off the hook. Then he asks us to move aside so he can throw it in the front of the boat full of rope and other fisherman paraphernalia. This fish is bleeding from the mouth and flopping around for dear life 2 feet away from me. He catches another one and does the same thing. Now there are 2 fish flopping around. They flop out of their dying quarters and start flopping towards my feet, bleeding everywhere! I think Blair and the fisherman wanted me to grab the fish and toss them back to the dying area but NO WAY was I touching those things. After I was directed to move my bag so they didn't get blood on it (which they did anyways) the fisherman caught them both and threw them back while laughing, saying "They just wont die!".

Slightly disturbing for a vegan/vegetarian duo 😉

Luckily after a few more fish were caught (and hit on the head with hammers...uuugh), we made it to the keys - which had the most amazing snorkeling! I huge 50 ft drop off just off shore with tonnes of amazing underwater wonders! We had the camera and took some great pics. We also learn't the hard way to reapply sunscreen after swimming - We are both suffering the wrath of the Honduran sun devil - shes a beast 😊

We have 2 more dives tomorrow and then its off to the main land Saturday morning. Let us pray no one vomits this time 😊
