Victor – my new Nigerian best friend

“What coffee you like?” Victor asked me yesterday “I always get Mike his favourite coffee when he comes” I smiled and said “don’t worry about me I don’t drink coffee, I am a PG tips girl and Mike says you cant get that in Africa” surprised Victor replied “WHAT? Who told him that? We will see” and then he left with a cheeky grin.

This morning Victor came in the office with a box of PG tips, how lush! all the guys had a taste of them too and agreed that PG tips are good ... the attached PG tip pictures are taken for Mike

I had my 250 person manual handling course – seemed to be popular – the first aiders helped me – they did the practical demonstrations and then Sheygan (not sure how it is spelt) got up and helped with a demonstration including a bum wiggle in the mix...

Today the team have learnt about Wounds, Bleeding and Burns and the best way to treat them, they are really enthusiastic and when bandaging each other they enjoy dramatising their fake injuries which is really funny. We are getting better with ‘Africa Time’ today we only started 10 minutes late, which is great as on Monday we started 40 minutes late.

Anaphylaxis was a funny subject, we discussed different things people could be allergic to – Peanuts, eggs, milk, latex – latex had them all in fits of giggles.

Victor took me out for lunch to Kobi’s, it is a Nigerian fast food restaurant in Lagos, Victor said I needed to try some Nigerian food – this was fun. We went up to the counter and Victor suggested I try the beef stew, the guy behind the counter really tried to put me off of it but Victor insisted (although he wasn’t eating it) I had this with rice and a bean jelly thing, it was actually really good, it tasted fab, the beef was cooked really well and it was a bit spicy and I had a pineapple drink to go with it. I went up to the counter to tell the guy that his food was good... he was pleased.

Gunshot wounds is one of the things we discussed today, Tunji told the team that he had witnessed a shooting when he was younger and that it was scary, he remembers the entry wound being small and the exit wound being huge... he said this is something he will never forget. The guys were surprised to hear that we had had shootings in London too...

I managed to get 30 minutes into the gym tonight 😊

I have just had dinner with Phil and Jane and I am off to bed now so goodnight all

Wonderful pics you made there, i wish i have read this before i made my first trip to Nigeria. I've made a lot of friends there and the people are really friendly to foreigner no like other countries i have been to. I still keep in touch with my friends but i have a little problem pronouncing particular names.Hope no one gets offended. Now i can just call Nigeria before i plan my second visit. Nice Job:)
