Bonjour Paris!

I was looking forward to this leg of the journey - European cities and historical stuff is amazing, but so is Euro-Disneyland!

So Day 1 in Paris - Disneyland. To beat the crowds, Renton had a game plan in mind. So as soon as the gates were open we were quick marching to the rollercoaster... only to be the very first people there. So we went on it three times, partly cos I didn't open my eyes on the first two go's. We had a great day - there were cool rides for Renton, and I got to meet micky mouse. Turns out the crowds aren't too bad on a weekday in mid-winter too.

Day 2 - Eiffel Tower, Lourve, Arc de Triomphe. Eiffel tower - awesome. We couldn't go to the very top as it was closed so we could only go to the 2nd floor (just below half way up). We then walked down to the first floor, where we found an ice rink with free ice skating. So we went ice skating up the Eiffel Tower. As you do.

Next stop - the Lourve Museum. Again, there weren't any crowds, so we

said hi to Mona Lisa, had a good look around at some other old stuff, and that was about it.

Sooo then we had time to walk up the Avenue Champ Elysees (awesome shopping street - wish I was rich!) to the Arc de Triomphe. Napolean built it back in the day to celebrate his victories (before he got wasted in the Battle of Waterloo by the Duke of Wellington), and now its also more of a war memorial as their Unknown Warrior is buried there.

Day 3 - bus tour of the city. Bus tours are great as: a) you don't have to walk, b) they tell you stuff so you dont have to bother looking it up, c) you figure out what all those buildings are that you have walked past 10 times, and d) they are heated and you don't get wet. So all good.

Day 4 - We had a day spare so we went to Warner Brothers Studios - which is Euro-Disney's other park. This was awesome as well, though the crowds were huge as it was the weekend, so someone (who shall remain nameless) threw a patty at having to wait

Renton getting really competiive on the Toy Story ride - you have to shoot little targets with a laser gun and you get points for each one you get. Need I explain further?!
an hour to go on the rollercoaster. Geez. Good times though.

Day 5 - time to move on to London via the Eurostar train. Going through immigration at the train station was crazy. You go through the French immigration, walk three steps, and then go through the UK immigration to enter the UK (but you're technically still in France).

So that was goodbye to mainland Europe and its delicious delicious pattisseries and chocolatiers everywhere, and hello to England and its english speaking and TV you can understand. Oh yea!
