Tucson Arizona –
GOOD: 1. Hot desert sun has dried out my cold completely. Beautiful here. Almost full moon at night. Sunny and 28 degrees C today. Got to wear sun screen and zip off shorts. Bought a red broad-brimmed straw hat.
2. Great time with my cousin John and his partner Leslie – hiking up and down mountains, listening to WONDERFUL Tucson music, enjoying spicy local food and wine. Visited an artisan guitar maker, a carpenter who makes furniture with mesquite wood, silver smith. Today we went to the desert museum (as opposed to the dessert museum) and saw gray wolves, bobcat, mountain lions, a kestrel, lots of hummingbirds, owls, otters, ocelot, cactus wrens.
3. I am quite embarrassed about this: New Bank Card!!! The old bank card I left in the bank machine in Maryland – had to cancel it of course – new one has now arrived so we now have access to on line banking. This is a great relief.
4. New quiet tires – no more studded clicking winter Michelins suitable for 2 meters of new snow. The studded tires will be sent to Colorado with my cousin
John, who might find a use for them.
5. Tomorrow, we will get to try out our SPANISH –Mexico here we come.
BAD: 1. Tomorrow, we will have to try out our SPANISH – Mexico here we come.
UGLY: 1. My Spanish – well maybe not UGLY but certainly awkward, hesitant, ridiculous . Tarjei is much more confident – he just tries to sound like Sargent Garcia from Zorro – and speaks Portuguese with certain Spanish flair.
Well, we are about to eat a wonderful Arizona Mexican meal of tamales, rice, avocado, pinto beans. So – we’ll talk to y'all from Mexico next.
