Merry Christmas to everyone!!! My last days in Southern Cross were really good and a bit sad saying bye to everyone. I was definitely ready to get out of such a small town. I worked my last shift and then everyone came down to the pub in the evening. Jo had made a leaving banner for me so everyone that came signed it with a little message for me. It was awesome. Kylie, the skimpy from the club (a canadian girl), Jo, Stevo and me all sat up on the back balcony after closing the pub and had a few drinks and just had a chat. It was really awesome.
The next morning i finished packing up all my stuff and Kylie and her son Jayden took me to the train station. Kylie and I cried a bit when I was getting on the train. The end of the Laurene era at the Railway Tavern, so sad! But ready for new and exciting adventures!
It is only a 2 hour trip on the train to Kalgoorlie. Sarah and the girls were there to pick me up. It was a sweltering hot day! We went over to Target so I
could do a bit of shopping for the girls for christmas. Oh it was so great to be back in a bit of a city and to have place to go shopping at! And so many people around again that I had never seen before! I bought the girls their presents and we headed back to Kambalda.
The girls were so excited to see me and it was back to being "aunty" Laurene hehe. Isobel has grown up so much in the 3 months since I saw her. She is all potty trained and such a big girl now. And Lucinda has calmed down and less temper tantrums since I was last here.
Christmas eve we made some nibble things to snack on as dinner and Sarah and Jason's friends came over with their kids and we all had a visit. The kids were excited for Santa to come. I woke up at 6am on Christmas morning and the girls were already up and waiting for me. They had done their stockings already. Early morning!!! We all opened our presents. Mom had sent me a few things from Canada and Sarah wrapped them up for me to open

Kylie found him in the bathtub, not cool!haha. I made everyone some Canadian pancakes and Sarah had some real Canadian maple syrup so we had a great canadian breakfast!!!It was a great chrismtas!
Spent the afternoon playing with all the girls new toys. We were going to cook a turkey for dinner but it was just too hot here. 43 degrees too hot to be exact, yikes!!! We made ham and scalloped potatoes instead. Boxing day the temperature dropped to 32 degrees so we headed over to the park with the girls. It was quite cloudy so we didn't think it would be too bad. Well, Sarah and I got quite burnt and Lucinda got just a little bit pink. Doesn't take long over here! We were only out there for an hour. We cooked the turkey today and had a traditional christmas dinner!
We all drove into Kalgoorlie the next day to do some shopping but we found most of the stores still closed. We wandered around a bit but it was quite hot so we just had some lunch and headed back to Kambalda. The girls played in the little water pool they have here.

after the girls went to bed and I stayed up a little longer then Sarah and Jason and while I was rolled over on the couch I looked up at the ceiling and saw a HUGE huntsman spider. Surprisingly I didn't scream haha. I just ran to my room and grabbed my camera. I took a few pictures of it and wasn't sure if I should wake up Sarah or not. I decided not to and closed the front room door and went to bed. Sarah found it on the wall in the morning and Jason caught it in a bucket and took it outside. They are big and hairy but they wont hurt you!
WE have spent today organizing and cleaning the girls room to make room for all of their new toys! We are making perogies and quiche today with the leftover ham and mashed potatoes for dinner. Tomorrow Jason goes back to work and us girls will drive into Kalgoorlie to have a girls shopping day. I will update my blog again after New Year's eve so.....HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!
