Merry Christmas from New Zealand!!
December in a nutshell:
we arrived safely but exhausted,
sorted through our things in storage (we packed for 1 year away, and have been away 5 yrs - treasured items: a burnt spatula, Miriam’s 5 yr old toiletries/lotions half used)
garage sale and trade me to sell excess things we stored,
Santa parade to watch Grandpa play the bagpipes,
Murray worked/studied etc,
Miriam & Murray shopped for clothes, it’s been awhile!!
We caught up with immediate family and some friends,
Charlotte & Hayley are re-introduced to their Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and a few friends,
Attractions seen thus far:
Gorgeous One Tree Hill (local, public farm),
Ride on a small train, big train and a ferry,
Free, local playgrounds that are so much fun, just ask Charlotte,
Mainly Music, dancing and singing tots group at church,
Beaches, beaches, sand castles, waves, islands, water, water and more water (got to love Auckland!),
Kelly Tarltons, aquarium, penguins, crayfish, fish, fish and more fish,
Snow planet, Charlotte desperate to see snow and wanted to "ski" (now informed me snow is very cold!!),
more beautiful harbour beaches and playgrounds.
We have had a blast thus far, enjoying
Arriving in Auckland airport
after 30+ hours travelling, well done girls! some much loved food treats as well. It has made us more aware that the girls view Kenya as home, as we do, but don't have that connection with NZ like we do. Charlotte wants to go back to Kenya to get her clothes and toys, and much prefers Kenyan eggs and beans, apparently!!
We enjoyed celebrating Christmas with both our families. Trying to hold onto the real meaning of Christmas for our Santa obsessed 3 yr old. Check out the link below, which helped remind her what Christmas is really about:

As we look forward to 2011, it will see us become a family of 5, with our third child due in early January.
Also I (Miriam) will be turning 30yrs old, something I have been looking forward to for awhile.
We will spend January in NZ enjoying every second, and then head back to Kenya to finish the next 2 years there with Murrays job.
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.
Love,
Miriam, Murray, Charlotte, Hayley and burt jnr the third.

Just looked through your new zealand photos. Absolutely georgous! I hope you have a little bit less planned for the second half of your trip. Crickey you have done a lot. Have really enjoyed catching up with you and can't wait to visit your new little bundle when she decides to come. Penny
