Day 9- the best day!!!

Today we checked out of our luxurious apartment and had to take my cuz and his wife to the airport... Wahhh oh well life goes on!!!  So we go to the airport and I wait with my cuz's until my mum and dad hired a car. As we are bored we decided to do some ball room dancing and jiving moves! In the meantime all these people are watching and walkig past buti didn't care as I was having fun. Then the moment came! My mum and dad arrived with the keys! Picture it. Slow mo with dramatic music as the light shines behind em! Ok it was nothing like that but I need to spice this up somehow! So off we go to the car! Now remember all my Australian readers, that the wheel is on the left and they drive on the right side of the road. So yeh my mum was the brave one who volunteered to drive. I was afraid... VERY afraid! It took About ten min to figure out the car and yes that was before we started driving. So I put my music loud and let my mum figure it out. (I'm a bad daughter I know!!!) xx

So we plug the gps in for NASA! I thought we were going to a really small visitor area but no! We went to the real thing! Now has any of my readers played need for speed or watched fast and furious? U would remember a huge bridge opening up and the cars would drive over it... Well the same type of bridge opened up here... But no we didn't drive over it... 😞 disappointed? Me too!! 😉

So we get there and the first thing we do is meet a real astronaut! He told us some interesting things like when u boil water in space, the air bubbles in the pot don't rise to the surface! Y u ask? No gravity! So the airbubbles form in he middle of the water! Also he explained that because u float in space u really lose ur sense of touch. Also the youngest astronaut was 22! Which means there's still time for me to beat the record!!!! 😉 I also learnt that when u are going into space ur body and mind don't realize ur going 17000 miles plus an hour. Also if I remember correctly, when ur going into space u r going faster than the speed of light! Also when ur seated for lift off, ure actually lying down! I sat in a lifesize version of a capsule and it is surprisingly comfortable. I will load photos once I get my computer!!!! Another point! After doing college u still have a min of 5 years of NASA training before u r considered an astronaut! So yeh I won't b breaking the youngest astronaut record!

I also went on a reaL simulation of liftoff! It is the closest thing in the whole world to real liftoff! It was unreal! I felt gforce on my face! I loved it! How cool would it b to really go to space!!!! I also saw a real nuclear missile! Was three feet away from touching it!

After watching two Nasa IMAX movies, we checked in a rad hotel! Literally rad! It's called the raddison!!! Anyway gonna watch tv now! So for all of my friends and readers, if u would like to comment here is today's topic!

What space fact can u share? The weirder the better! Xx

space joke
That was really interesting Laurie. Almost felt like we were there with you. So here's a really sick space joke I know. Q. "How do we know that Saturn was married more than once?" A. Because he has lots of rings.....da dum dum....I know pretty weak hey. It's the best of the worst I could find.

Space Facts for you Lauren :)
Hi, sounds like your trip is going extremely well! We are so happy for you. I went to Florida years ago but never made it to NASA, so I loved hearing about from you. BTW: It is impossible to travel at the speed of light - which is 300,000 Km a second!!! So you must of been talking about travelling at the speed of sound. Now here are some 'Space Facts' that you asked for: If two pieces of metal touch in space, they become permanently stuck together This may sound unbelievable, but it is true. Two pieces of metal without any coating on them will form in to one piece in the vacuum of space. This doesn’t happen on earth because the atmosphere puts a layer of oxidized material between the surfaces. ... The Sun loses up to a billion kilograms a second due to solar winds ... Did you know that 1 pinhead of the sun’s energy is enough to kill a person at a distance of 160 kilometres? ... The moon is drifting away from Earth Every year the moon moves about 3.8cm further away from the Earth. This is caused by tidal effects. Consequently, the earth is slowing in rotation by about 0.002 seconds per day per century. ... We are moving through space at the rate of 530km a second! That means that in one minute you are about 19 thousand kilometres away from where you were. ... If you put Saturn in water it would float The density of Saturn is so low that if you were to put it in a giant glass of water it would float. The actual density of Saturn is 0.687 g/cm3 while the density of water is 0.998 g/cm3. ... Keep your blog going, we love it here in Melb :) Love Bill Ams

Space...
Hey Lauri, here's a space fact for ya! Tidal effects cause the moon to move about 3.8 cm away from Earth every year. It’s a process called tidal acceleration, the aggregate of competing gravitational forces between a planet and its satellite. As a result, the Earth’s rotation slows down at about .002 seconds a century, and the moon casually inches toward our sister, Venus. Cool huh? btw...I have chosen all my year 11 subject now!!! Business Management (yr12 subject) English General Mathematics Psychology (yay!) Biology.....and.... MUSIC PERFORMANCE!!!!! YAY! I am excited! I hope I do okay...I mean, I don't want to go to uni...I want I part time job so I can reg. pio. but I would still like to get a good score...you know, for the satisfaction of knowing that I accomplished something pretty good. But never mind...Hope YOU are having an amazing time!

More Space facts...
Hey Lauri here are some more scientific facts about space, you probably know them all already...but oh well! TA DA! If the average human body was of an equal mass to the sun, it would comparitively produce more heat. Over 1 million Earth's could fit inside the sun. There are stars far larger than the sun. If you were to step outside your space-craft without a suit or protection of any kind, your brain would literally explode...therefore, it seem a reasonable conlusion that you would die. The Auroras that can be seen at the magnetic poles of Earth are caused by the Earth's own magnetic field reacting to solar flares and explosions in the Sun's corona. Earth's ideal tilt of 23.4 degrees is what causes the seasons! Earth's "address" is perfect, even a slight difference could be disasterous! Jupiters "red spot" is actually a giant storm! Pluto is no longer considered a planet. After Pluto there has been discovered another heavenly body, Sedna, it also is too small to be considered a planet. Two Australians have been to space...Paul Scully-Power, and Dr Andy Thomas. The longest time spent in space by any one person was 439 days, by Dr Valeri Polyakov from Russia. If there was a glass of water big enough, Saturn could float on top of it due to the planets low density. Neptune's largest moon is call Triton, it is frozen solid! Neptune was first identified in September 1846... Sorry...I am probably boring you to death! I guess you can see that I am a science freak! I love this kinda stuff! YAY!
