Slept 11 plus hours last night. Sunny and warm in the am, but that soon turned to rain. We decided to book a horseback tour seeing as that is the one thing Julia really wanted to do. Sean not so much! It was raining more now but we decided to tough it out. The horses were great but the rain and wind made for a cold two hour tour. Sarah talked the whole way (surprise) while Hayden and I found amusement in the horses bodily functions. Lindsay was very brave but her purple lips told the true story- she couldn't wait for it to end. Julia was content being in the lead on the biggest horse. We ran into donkeys, pigs and lots of barking dogs. Life in Peru was an eye opener for the kids, living on hillsides, no running water and definitely no ammenities that we all take for granted. We met some kids along the way and they seem mesmerized by us, as they played in the mud. Lots of beautiful scenery and history to learn about.
Back to the resort for nap and dinner before calling it a night. Going to the markets tomorrow and to hike
the inka ruins. We are hoping for dry weather but looks like more rain is on call- of course it is!
One thing for sure there will be no CrossFitting here. The high altitude has been hard to get accustomed to. Walking up a flight of stairs has been strenuous to say the least. Sean says a filthy 50 could take us weeks to finish. Can't imagine what Maccu Picchu will feel like seeing as we are only in the valley right now!
