Wednesday, November 3rd

Hi Everyone,
This was the best day of weather since we have been on the cruise. The sun shined all day and there was no rain. We started the day with a tour of the ruins at Pompeii. Pompeii was destroyed by the Mount Vesuvius volcano when it erupted in 79 AD. It is still an active volcano today and we were told by our guide that scientists predict it will experience another major eruption within the next 80 to 100 years.

We had a great guide who got us into a few areas where the general public couldn’t go. We saw some relatively new excavations that the general public couldn’t see. There were bath houses, residences, shops and even brothels that had been preserved since the eruption in 79 AD.

Next we traveled to Sorrento and Positano. These are on the Amalfi coast of Italy and it was a beautiful winding drive. This place was like heaven. The buildings and houses on the cliffs were picturesque and the climate and the sea air were wonderful. Nalynn did some shopping and of course we stopped for pizza.

We hope you are all well and happy. Please send us a note if you have a chance.
Love,
Arlyn and Nalynn

vacation
Arlyn and Nalynn, Benita and I are keeping up with your blogs. Sounds like you both are having just about as much fun as I'm having. I've been setting in my easy chair and for enjoyment watching MSNBC after the election. What a blast. I flip flop back and forth between them and CNN. It's been one of the most enjoyable, made for TV, election outcome of my life time. It'll even be better in 2 years. Thank goodness for Fox news and the tea party and the common people. All kidding aside, Benita and I are glad you both are having a great time and we'll keep watching for the new and exiting blogs.

Pompeii was one of Cyrena's Favorites
Glad the weather is better. Cyrena really enjoyed Pompeii and the unique history.
