We Made it to Barcelona

Ok, our vacation got off to a rather interesting start. Nalynn and I were up late on Wednesday night. She was doing the last-minute packing and I was finishing some administrative duties that needed to be closed out before leaving on vacation. At any rate we went to bed around 12:30 AM after setting the alarm for 6:00 AM.

My brother Lyle had graciously agreed to meet us at 7:30 AM to take us to the airport. Somehow the alarm didn’t go off and I woke up at 7:27 AM! I have to tell you that Nalynn and I are usually always up by 6:30. In the 25 years we have been married neither of us can remember waking up late - but just wait until we have a two -week vacation and this happens. Long-story short, we showered and dressed in record time and made it to the airport with time to spare - only to find out our flight was delayed for 2 hours.

We are now in Barcelona. Nalynn and I got in at 8:30 AM Barcelona time and the Marriott Renaissance was wonderful and allowed us early check in and a fantastic breakfast. Afterwords we caught the hotel shuttle to Las Rambles, walked around for about 4 hours. Barcelona is beautiful. We went to the Gaudi and walked a lot of the shopping streets. The weather today was fantastic - about 65 degrees, sunny and very pleasant. We also went to a huge food market and everything looked to be really high quality. Sure beats what we get at out big box stores at home.

Tonight we went to a Tapas restaurant and met some people we have scheduled some tours with in Florence, Rome, and Naples. They seem like good people and we had laughs and interesting conversation over tapas and Wine. Ordering tapas was different. You take a plate, fill it with tapas that have a skewer through the, At the end of the night, they count the skewers to calculate each person's bill

We are getting on the ship tomorrow and ten we are off to Toulon, France on Sunday. Sunday night there is a Halloween party on the ship.
