I’m up and it’s 6 AM. The sun is just peeking over the mountains. Kirsten is still asleep so I run for the bathroom and get cleaned up. As I’m finished Kirsten is up and ready to go to the bakery. Off we go out the door and WOOO it’s foggy. We feel our way to the bakery and I’m thinking we’re the only fools out here.
I was wrong; as we approach the door you can see 6 or more inside just talking and getting their breakfast. Kirsten waves to the lady behind the counter; they exchange their cute German greetings. I’m standing there thinking…. can I just get an Egg McMuffin.

When we get back everyone is up and moving around, Bea is all ready for her brotchen. The table was set and we all sit down and start passing everything around.

Hedy all of the sudden says STOP! Swen and Eva aren’t here. Ok, we’ve all stopped eating and we are looking at each other. Your right, they aren’t here. Bea breaks the silence and says when are they coming? I Shink they said they would be here around 9 AM. Well I was prepared to drop my brotchen on the floor and hide it in my pocket, when Bea says; well I’m not waiting and we all return to eating. Sorry Swen and Eva.

Swen and Eva roll in 9ish for breakfast and we’re all sitting there, watching them eat. We start talking about what to do and we decide to go see the Eagles Nest. This is a house sitting on top of the mountain Kehlstein. This is the house that was given to Hilter for his 50th birthday. Cool gift.

We all pile into the cars and headed back to where the WWII museum is located. We park and get our tickets and Kirsten, Bea and I decide we’re going to ride the bus up but walk down. So we all get on the bus and away we go up the side of the mountain. They stopped allowing car traffic many years ago because the road is so NARROW.
As were heading up we meet the bus coming down and that bus has pulled off at a passing point because it’s so NARROW! I’m looking out the window while gripping the seat in front of me. It’s one big drop and the bus is moving at a fast clip. All the time there’s a recording going on, in German of course describing the ride. Bea and Kirsten are interrupting most of it saying they’ve never had an accident since the buses have been used. I’m thinking no one ever survived when it went over the edge.

The bus comes to large parking lot and everyone piles off. Hey! Were not at the top. Ya Ya Ya, you have to go into de tunnel, and ride de lift to de top. So we all start heading down this tunnel into the mountain. At the end of the tunnel there is the elevator, we all go in, wooo this is scary. We’re all following each other like sheep, sound familiar.
The elevator door closes and our guide pushes the button and away we go…. UP! After a few moments the door opens and we walk out of the elevator into the house. Now this is a penthouse!!
We walked around the house and enjoyed looking off the top of the mountain. The scenery was just amazing!! After a while we are ready for lunch and we get a table on the terrace and have a nice lunch. Everything was MMMM Good!

After lunch, we say our goodbyes and discuss were we’re going to meet. Bea, Kirsten and I take off and begin our walk down the side of the Kehlstein.

We walked; down, down, down, down.

We finally arrive at the parking lot and we’re walking toward the car. Someone is blowing their horn. I’m thinking who the hell is blowing their horn at us, I turn and it’s Swen. What! He explains he lost his phone and he thinks it’s up on the mountain where we had lunch.

We head back to Berchtesgaden, were Eva, Hedy and Bill are hanging out. We’re tired and ready for something to drink and eat. We pull into our parking spot and it looks like market day, this place is packed! We start making our way through the crowds looking for Bill and we see him sitting at the café holding court. We join Bill and have our long awaited beer.

After 30-45 minutes everyone comes together and we head back to the house and have a great spaghetti dinner.

While we are all sitting around, Eva walks out and is holding……. guess what? Swen’s phone, uh oh. It was in his jacket the whole time. We all laugh and we are glad he found his phone.

After dinner we watched TV, ’Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ the movie with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie speaking German LOL
Good night….. see you tomorrow.
