We had some yummy donuts and said goodby to Pa and Geraldine. We boarded a flight from Adelaide to Brisbane. We stayed a night at the Brisbane Ashram. We met a Scout Leader at Ferny Grove train station the next day and they drove us the rest of the way to Scout Camp being held near Samford. At the Scout Camp we met Kaa the Cub Scout leader. The camp was already set up so we found our spot in the tents.

The fun and games started quickly. We put on our harness and went absailing on a huge man made wall. I managed to fit in 4 decents in before the had to pack up. The feeling of absailing down the wall was amazing and so much fun.

Cal was to young to go by himself so one of the Scout leaders took him down. He loved it and had a huge smile at the bottom and said "That was fun but when do I get to go by myself?"

We made some new friends. Some other families have a life a bit like us. They travel around Australia, that's why they are Lone Scouts. For the next few day we worked on trying to atain some badges, which involved learning how to use a phone on emergency and how to use a compass, and also lots of swimming and canoeing. The scouts had set up a huge Flying Fox. The limit was meant to only be 3 times each person but Callum managed to get 4 goes!

We did a compass activity where we had to go exploring. We did it in groups with the Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers. We went exploring and there were letters telling you to go to the next station and do the challenge there. You got pieces of postcards and when you had them all you had to write the letter. We made our own envelopes too. Then we posted the letters to the Scout Leader. Mum said, that is called a Wide Game.

There was a huge storm at night and everyone ran to the shelter! We had to sleep at the shelter as there was so much rain and flooding. The older boys managed to go around to the tents and save most of the peoples stuff from the flooding. The next day we made home made raincoats out of bags.

At the camp I worked hard on some badges. Rama and Kaa helped us a lot with the badgework. I was presented with some that I finished recently: Bronze Boomarang, Faith Aweness, Fitness level Two, Codes and Signals, and Canoeing. I will keep working at it and hope to finish more soon.

The theme was meant to be Chinese Year of the Tiger but we didn't do much on the theme. On the last night we had a special dinner (Jane and the cooks made some delicious food all camp) and some people from the Scout Headquaters came. I did a little talk about China and the Cubs and Joeys made (fortune cookie) fortunes for everyone. The favourite one I made was 'Life is like a Monopoly, it's always changing'. Cal's favourite one was 'When you are sick just eat three pounds of garlic and you'll feel better'. Mum's favourite was 'Your life is like a flower. Always full of beauty'.

Callum is in Joey's and got the Adventure, Environment and MOB badges. The camp was SO much fun and I hope to go to another camp again soon.
