Im really loving Germany. Since I have a break between classes, I took a trip to Munich with my extra time. There I met up with Johnny and met a lot of his friends from school. One of them is from Barcelona which I found especially great since that's one of my favorite places that I've visited. I had a pretty horrific train ride there, the Deutsche Bahn tried to dump me in the middle of a national forrest without any means of leaving but it all worked out eventually even though I was really scared and my phone wasn't working which made everything worse. So I got there later than planned, but after that things went smoother. On Friday I walked pretty much the whole day, about 10 miles all through Munich. I saw a ton of stuff and most of it I found by accident. The weather wasn't great so I couldn't get the best pictures but I still took some. Afterwards, everyone met up and we wanted to go to Oktoberfest but it was pouring rain and freezing. It wasn't the nicest day to go anyways, because there were crazy drunk people everywhere even though it was only about 5:00 when I got there. I was surprised, because most people told me that even though everyone thinks of Oktoberfest as just a bunch of crazy people drunk out of their mind it really isn't like that, but it was! I realized though that it was only because it was a Friday and that the other days aren't usually like that. So we went to a Bavarian restaurant instead. The next day, Saturday, we did some touring. We went to a really big museum (the Deutsches Museum) and then tried to go to Oktoberfest again but it was still too crazy. Finally on sunday the weather was really nice, and it wasn't any problem to go outside for as long as we wanted. I got to go to the top of a tower that gave us a really great view of the Altstadt. I couldn't go to the top of the famous Frauenkirche (I did see the inside though) because it's closed on Sundays, but the view from the Peterskirche tower was still really nice. I also saw the Residenz which is where all the Dukes lived and I got some really great pictures. On monday i walked around some more even (I didn't like taking the UBahn) and I didn't see really any more historical stuff but I enjoy walking around the newer parts too just to see what kind of places and shops there are. I waited for everyone to get out of class, which wasn't too late though only around 1:30 and we all went to lunch and just hung out for awhile. After we finally got to go to Oktoberfest, I had a huge Brezel and a Maß and got one of those typical gingerbread cookies you always see in Bavaria and I went on one of the rides. The rides are really expensive so we only went on one, but the one we chose was really great because you could get a view of everything.
I got back pretty late last night and was really tired because of the long train ride but I was thankful that I got back without any problems. This morning I moved into my own single room, and I loooove it it's almost the same size as the other room even though its a single and it looks a lot friendlier. And I was able to get my internet working too, so that's another bonus. Im looking forward to going to the really nice art store across the road today, I want to start painting again now that I feel like I'm more settled in. My room looks kind of chaotic now, since I had to make two trips with my suitcase to move everything so I had to dump the first on the ground but as soon as it looks decent I'll take pictures of it to post 😊
