yep... it really is this gorgeous... Ahh... Tropical North Queensland... its hard to beat...
With a relaxed, tropical and laid-back lifestyle, you can be assured that you will leave in a considerably de..stressed state...
The Cairns region encompasses two significant World Heritage Listed sites - The Daintree Tropical Rainforest and The Great Barrier Reef and is apparently the fourth-most popular destination for international tourists in Australia after Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane...
Doesn't surprise me...
The city's perfect proximity to the Reef, the Wet Tropics of Queensland, and the Atherton Tablelands... and with temperatures in the region averaging 20-30 C all year round, make it a very attractive destination... especially when its chilly down south...
Dont skimp on your time here... While a couple of days will suffice for Cairns itself, use it as your base for getting out and exploring further afield...
There is so much to see and do... Activities are in abundance and even if you are not the adrenalin/outdoor pursuit type, there is still plenty to keep you busy...
And if you are a diver, then Cairns also happens to be one of the world’s most popular diving sites... The number of tour-dive-snorkel-cruise operators operating is mind-boggling... around 600 I've heard...

you might want to put Green Island on your to do list... The beach in Cairns is none to exciting - mud flats really with crocs so one is told...
They do have a nice lagoon pool overlooking the ocean though to make up for it...
And... a 10+min drive heading north and you will hit some great bathing spots... Yorkey's Knob, Trinity Beach, Palm Cove...
You will enjoy your time in Cairns... be warned though... Cairns is very much backpacker- tourist central...
