A town with a top ten of six

We headed out for the day to meet some friends, Phil, Rachael and Beatrix, in Builth Wells, a place recommended by the Lonely Planet as a top place to visit in Wales. Unfortunately, the recommendation seemed to be based on town being the annual host of the Royal Welsh Show, and as it was not the time for the Royal Welsh Show, the town was asleep. We did climb up to the top of the town to see the castle...which doesn't exist except for mounds of grass and earth, although the views were pretty good at the top.

Over lunch at a nice little pub overlooking the river that bizarrely only accepted cash, Rachael started reading out excerpts from a Builth Wells visitors guide, which included a top ten things to do - the rugby club, the river walk, the market, the field where they host the Royal Welsh Show, the river bridge, the rugby club etc. The list stopped at six. A town with a top ten of six just about sums it up.

Still, to be fair, the river bridge is awesome and the walk along the river Wye is something special.

Another highlight of the day was a surprise stop in Llandovery at a hamstery. We just spotted a sign and followed it, and it indeed was a place that kept (and showed) hamsters. As it was an aim to reacquaint ourselves with the furry little critters whilst we were back in the UK (they're banned in New Zealand), this was just simply an amazing and strange co-incidence.

You may notice we struggled to find photos of Builth Wells, and remarkably took as many of the outside of the hamstery as we did of town, all day.

Hamstery
... surely it's an adjective not a noun? e.g. that Gail Tilsley is a bit hamstery...?
