Sunset over Queensland islands
Magnetic Island is close enough to Townsville that part of it has effectively become an outer suburb. That hasn't spoilt it too much however and I enjoyed a walk around the bays on the north of the island and a World War II fort with excellent views over the island.

I also felt that it was about time I slowed down and relaxed for a while, so I spent much of the time slobbing by the pool and having a few beers. There was a big group of army guys at the hostel who were on a scuba-diving course - can't be bad - and, to cut a long story short, a few beers turned into a heavy drinking session (again). Some how I think that I should be doing something else in Queensland, but never mind, the best way is to just go with the flow.

Apparently the 'Bikini Tree' has been on a diet. I have a photo taken in the '70's and it is certainly bigger, legs shorter and the bust huge. '
