Well, the day started off pretty peaceably, actually, pretty well really. We awoke leisurely and went down to have our first breakfast meal together as a family. Jin did great, he ate watermelon, yogurt, egg and cereal and smiled quite a bit at breakfast. We had to do registration and notary paperwork today, so were just preparing to meet everyone in the lobby when Allen said "Bao split his eye open!" Heart in my mouth, I rushed over and he was bleeding heavily and screaming from a pretty steep cut above his eye (thankfully not in his eye). There is a marble sill that runs along the length of our window and Allen said he slipped on it. We cleaned it and bandaged it and raced down to the lobby to go, but it started really bleeding again. Our guide took us to the hotel doctor and she put stoma(?) on it to stop the bleeding and bandaged it but said that if it bled again, we needed to take him to the hospital for stitches. One of the fathers in our group is a nurse and he accompanied us to the hotel doctor and he agreed with what she said. We are so fortunate that we have three nurses in our group of adoptive families and they have been so helpful with advice as believe me, we have been terrified. It is so hard to keep Bao from being the extremely active boy that he is. Allen said the bandaid fell off and, well, it started bleeding again. I bought more of those stoma bandaids at the pharmacy and another nurse parent helped me cut it and put it on. Another parent has sutures. Bao is napping now. If it starts bleeding again, we are going to give him benadryl to relax him and some of the nurses are going to help me clean it out again and apply the suture and tape it down. I so hope it doesn't come to that. We only have a 24 hour window to seal the wound before it would result in a scar. Please keep Bao Bao in your thoughts today.
