Gorgeous, charming, and oh so Taiwanese, I could not help but fall in love with Taipei city.

Yesterday, my journey home was punctuated by the mix of elation and sadness one feels after they’ve lost a romance which was profound in its promise and intense in its brevity. I await with great patience and joy that happy day when the fates have brought us together again.

While in Taipei, I stayed with my very good friend Jen and her sister Amy. We had a wonderful time and I thank them for being such great hosts for the weekend.

On our first day, we visited Taipei 101 (the second highest building in the world) to do some shopping, catch up over luxurious afternoon tea, and visit the observation deck.

Later, my other good friend Stacy joined us for dinner and we capped off the night by having an awesome time going out dancing!

The following day, we visited the excellent National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. It offered interesting displays on Taiwanese history and art, as well as a beautiful surrounding park area.

We then headed to a popular night market where we got dinner from

a variety of street-side vendors and played carnival games at a sort of outdoor arcade. Finally, we chilled at home with a movie and some ice cream, a perfectly relaxing end to my month-long odyssey.

Overall, my trip was extraordinary; it exceeded my expectations in every way. It was great fun, very educational, and totally refreshing. As for the divergence of roads I mentioned at the outset of my trip, my meditations and travels have brought me more clarity and understanding. I look forward with great excitement and curiosity to the mystery of what lies ahead.
