July 6th

The next morning was quite a sad one for Troy, Djuwi and Josh. They had been travelling together for quite some time and they had to say their goodbyes. Djuwi was to catch a plane back to Europe that afternoon from Cape Town, and since Phil and I were heading that way we gave her a ride. Troy and Josh headed back east to Jeffreys Bay and Port Elizabeth, eager to get to Durban to watch Spain play Germany in the semi finals of the World Cup.

So we headed for Cape Town, Djuwi and I in the back of the truck. I had decided to leave Phil alone up front since Djuwi needed some company after leaving her loved one. I sympathized with her since I had been there and done that before. We spent the drive talking about life, love and how we look at the world, while also enjoying the Garden Route drive that we probably wouldn’t see again for many years.

Time flew by as we chatted and before we knew it we were at the Cape Town airport. We said our goodbyes and wished her a good journey before Phil drove me back to Kieron’s place.

That evening Kieron and I headed for Long Street to meet back up with Pete, Carrie and Phil. It just so happened that my African Trails mate, Nicio, was also in Cape Town and so I met up with him and his two Brazilian friends. We headed for the Fan Fest to watch Holland play Uruguay but it turned out to be full so we ended up watching it at a pub on Long Street. The Netherlands ended up winning and booked themselves their third final in the country’s history.

After the match I met back up with Kieron and we headed back to his place to call it a night. The next day would be one of my final days in Cape Town and I had a full day planned.

Hope you like the photos! Until next time, Pura Vida!!
