BeverleyBeverleyBeverley

The wedding was wonderful. Everything worked out just great.
I haven't had a good wireless signal in weeks so I have lumped all these activities into one entry.
I moved from Gettysburg to Sussex, New Jersey but the RV park didn’t have reliable electricity so I only stayed one night and then moved on to Wurtsboro, New York. I was only there for a couple of days when I flew to Austin to Bev’s wedding. I had planned to leave Ike with a pet-sitter but she didn’t seem reliable so I took him with me. (Nothing I had planned in New Jersey panned out.) Anyway, I flew out of Long Island, which in itself was an adventure. I didn’t realize exactly how long, Long Island is!
Bev and Casey had planed their wedding on the banks of the Guadalupe in Gruene, Texas. Unfortunately, Mother Nature decided to open up the heavens and pour a LOT of rain into the Guadalupe. The river rose 50’ within a few hours. It was quite amazing to see. It receded almost as quickly, but the deck where they were to have exchanged vows had been washed away and the flood had left a lot of mud on the board walks where the guests were

So thoughtful of the tube company to organize their shuttlebus be washed down the river to the bankside just opposite the wedding site!! Most couples (brides) would've cried, Bev and Casey laughed.
to watch the ceremony. However, Casey and his brothers worked hard and the mud was shoveled off the walks and a hay bail placed for Casey’s mom and me to sit during the ceremony. Casey’s dad officiated and the entire event went off without another hitch and was really lovely. Even if I say it myself; Beverley looked stunning. Her best friend from high school was her Maid of Honor and Ellie was her Flower Girl. Jacob gave her away and Ben was ring bearer—or in this case cow bell ringer! Casey’s two brothers both acted as Best Man.
I got back to Wurtsboro on Sunday afternoon and spent the next week relaxing and exploring the area. I put the motor home in storage and Ike and I flew to Alberta on the 23rd June for two weeks.
Beverley and Casey spent their honeymoon in Canada arriving in Vancouver so Casey could meet Brother Al and family and then making their way through the Rockies and to Medicine Hat to spend sometime with Jayne and family.
The timing for our trips was to participate in the Medicine Hat High School Graduation Exercises. Sarah made us very proud; she was an Honors Graduate and received three very nice scholarships. She aspires to teach English as a 2nd language in Japan when she graduates from the University of Alberta in Edmonton five years from now. Ike and I spent an additional week with the family; which we enjoyed. Ike got thoroughly spoiled, he knew that every time Jayne went to the fridge he would be given a piece of cheese, and of course the girls played with him and kept him entertained. The weather was good with nice brisk morning walks and warm lazy afternoons. Strangely enough, there was a flood in Medicine Hat the week before I arrived and the campground where I normally park the motor home was closed.
When I got back to New York I had two days to catch my breath before meeting Bev in the city for a weekend. She had to be up there for meetings on Monday and Tuesday so flew in on Saturday morning. I made arrangements to leave Ike with a pet sitter who had a beagle of her own and was caring for a Maltese Terrier that he would be able to play with, so thankfully that worked out well. Bev

The park in Wurtsboro is high in the Catskill Mountains of New York State. Quite diverse population, the shoppers in Walmart were mostly Acidic Jews (?) and there was a Zen Monastery just down the road. The scenery is really lovely with lots of wildlife -- including a mouse who got into my motor home while it was in storage!
and I had a great weekend. We walked our feet off, seeing as many sites as we could and enjoying a Broadway show to boot.
I left New York State on July 16th and made my way through Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and into Massachusetts. The RV park is called “Gateway to Cape Cod”….which might be a stretch since it is about 7 miles from the Cape, but it is nice. This coastline is beautiful and I can understand why the Kennedy’s have their home(s) here.

Graduation in Medicine Hat is a two day affair. Day one is the actual graduation ceremony, day two is the banquet. This was taken just before we left for the ceremony

The banquet is the U.S. equivalent of a Prom. All the girls dress in very expensive gowns and look amazing.

Ike loved spending time with the girls. They kept him occupied.

I took a sailing trip out into Cape Cod from Hyannis. The captain took the ship out of the harbour under power and then turned off the engines. It was so peaceful just going under sail--if that's the right term

I think there are five Kennedy homes out there. The big one in the front is the home that Joseph and Rose built which eventually became Teddy's home. The church you can see at the top left is St. Andrew's Episcopal. Funny to see it there since the Kennedy's are Roman Catholic

I took Ike with me and am glad to say he doesn't get sea-sick either. He quite enoyed the excursion except when we got splashed.

There were beautiful hydrangea bushes all over. I didn't know they would thrive in this climate
