Hot hot hot...

We have finished our brief stay in Rome, and got out before we melted to death. There was a few times I was willing to hurl myself in front of a speeding Vespa to end it all (kidding) (but not really). We were literally drenched in sweat everyday...all day! Rome was ridiculously hot, and we had to shower at least twice a day. It was 40 + weather every day...way hotter than Cairo. On the first night we arrived, Shannon did a strip tease for the patrons of the restaurant below as she forgot to shut the blinds when she showered. We went to Vatican City and saw many important pieces of art and buildings. It turned out our guide couldn't take us due to a family emergency so he hooked us up with another tour group for free (everyone else had to pay 45 euros haha! Shannon foolishly tried to snap a picture in the Sistine Chapel, and got in trouble with one of the many guards. I laughed. Rome is the most enjoyable by night, it seems simpler to manipulate the streets (when not delerious from sun exposure) and we enjoyed many different things this way. Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, Colliseum, and even a truly ancient Roman experience....Mcdonalds in front of the Pantheon. We trekked to London today via Ryan Air, which was an experience and a half. The plane was uber noisy...obnoxious people...and truly horrific turbulence when attempting to land. Upon arriving to our hotel here, we have already blown the fuse in our room in a matter of five minutes. We had to get the front desk guy to come up and help us...slightly embarassing. We are starting to deviate from our calendar as we realized we planned something for tonight and we are exhausted. We will not be leaving the room tonight. Side note Karen: You don't want to know what Flat Stanley's been up to. It's despicable. The cloudy weather is here is welcomed, (15 degrees) and will be much appreciated by us. Tips for Rome for Aunty Marge: there is a huge lack of street signs, if it looks like a back alley, it is actually a street, always stick to the main roads, buy a pair of sandals (Shannon bought three), definitely let the Romans rub on the sunscreen, make sure you get an audio thing when picking your tour at the Colliseum (it was difficult to hear our guy), the rest is yours to discover. And yes we did eat all the gelato! Will write again in a few days...

Cheerio!

Hi there!
Hi Jackie and Shannon; I'm greatly enjoying your trip. When I was in Florence a few years ago, it was 34 C and I was a drippy, soppy mess everyday but it was great anyhow. I was awed by all that ancient history and architecture. I took the boat tour all the way to Greenwich in London and really enjoyed it. Have fun! Laura V.

Hi there!
I'm enjoying your trip greatly. When I was in Florence several years ago it was 34 C and I was a soppy, drippy mess the entire time so I can't imagine 40 C! I took the boat tour all the way to Greenwich in London and got off and looked around. I really enjoyed it. Have fun - I'll stayed tuned. Laura V.
