When bloggers unite? What happens? I have been travelling now for a a year and four months and have met very few bloggers. So when I got an email form a Canadian friend I met four years ago in Naples, stating that they would be in Melbourne for about 48 hours I was delighted. Being a host and tour guide for a friend and fellow blogger could be exciting. But what could I show a professional world traveller in Melbourne during winter on a Sunday and Monday? As the date got closer to Nik's arrival, I was still stumped. What do you show someone who has been everywhere? Then I got it. I could just show them a good time.

So with vague plans and the winter sunshine in my corner I collected Nik form the Southern Cross Station to drop his bags off at my new flat in Brighton. We started with some skyline views from the Brighton waterfront, then to St Kilda then the city. We walked, we took photos, we drank, we gambled at the casino, we laughed. It was nice to have a Canadian traveller friend as I have no Canadian friends in this town and maybe was in need of some hockey talk and such. We caught up with the legend Richie for a Sunday night session at the Irish bar in Carlton complete with the band the Bad Penguins (just like old times). At some point that night we jumped in a cab to go home and got dropped off at a beautiful home with the right number on the gate. After the cab drove off I realized I didn't have a fence (I moved in 6 days ago) and this was not my house. It was the wee hours of the morning and in my intoxicated state the only logic I had was that I lived nearer to the sea and begin walking towards the sea. A car was backing its way out of their driveway and I knocked on her passenger window. The woman stared at me for a moment (likely trying to judge my intentions). I gave here the international signal to wind down the window, and she did commence to roll her window down about one inch. I explained in my slurred speech that I recently moved to the area and stated my address. She pointed to the house on

the corner and told me that's where I lived.

The next day we were gifted with more winter sunshine and well deserved hangovers. We toured some different areas of the city, and visited some favourite photo snapping places of mine. As I live here and have everyday life stuff to accomplish on my days off, Monday was laundry day. So to my local laundromat named “Bay Wash” (complete with a replica of the Bay Watch logo). We decided to rock n roll, as this was Niks last night in Melbourne, and ventured to Bay Wash with a bottle of rum (duty free from Singapore) ipods and speakers. We accomplished the laundry and left a little tipsy. We proceeded to St Kilda to check out some bars and just partied the night away enjoying the randomness of it all (we did get a cab to the right house this time).

The next day I tiredly tredged my way to work in the rain while Nik caught a bus to Sydney. It was a reunion of two travellers. During all the sight seeing and booze indulging we shared travel stories and knowledge, talked destinations and future plans, blog talk and

life talk. Through Nik's stories and ideas I learned a few things and I think I influenced him in a few areas. It is always nice to re-meet people and enjoy the crossing of paths once again. Come to think of it, Nik is only the second person I have seen on two continents (the other is Delphine who I met in Dublin and Sydney). It was 48 hours of rock n rolling with someone how has a passion for travel and a passion for living. It reminds me of what I set out to do.....TRAVEL!
