As soon as we returned from the Gibbon experience we boarded a bus for a 15 hour journey to luang Prabang. The bus was pretty good but the roads were a little unerving. We probably did an average of 20 MPH on the twisty unsurfaced roads in the dark and mist. We just decided to close our eyes and hope for the best!!!
Luang Prabang is really nice. One of the best things is the food. There is some great street food including BBQ meat (chicken, pork ribs, buffalo, loas sausage), baguettes, fruit shakes (seriously good), spring rolls, noodles, rice and veg buffet. laos fried bananas which i have yet to try. Also the Cakes are amazing!!!!
Went to visit some waterfalls which were really nice. The journey out there in the tuk tuk was pretty uncomfortable. The area around the falls was really nice and cool and the water for swimming was absolutely freezing!!! But it was nice to have a swim as its been a while!!
The locals were stripping down to their Y fronts and jumping in. The best sight however was the monks who rolled up thier robes into what looked like a nappy
Waterfalls
At the top of the falls- flip flops not the most ideal footwear!!! and had a go on the rope swing. There were some pretty chilled out bears to see at the end aswell.
We rented some bikes to have atrundle round the city as its pretty quiet which little traffic. got our breakfast baguettes and fruit shakes in out baskets and went down to the river. Then went out of the city on a rickety iron bridge and i nearly got squashed then we turned back!!!
