Dublin, Texas is not a town you would specifically travel to unless you would like to visit the oldest Dr. Pepper plant in the United States. The plant is open daily for tours and the purchase of a Dr. Pepper at an old time soda fountain. You can take home cans of Dr. Pepper that are unlike Dr. Pepper produced elsewhere, since these are made with pure cane sugar, an ingredient that was dropped and changed elsewhere many years ago. Outside the Dr. Pepper plant there is not much else to see of do in the Erath County town of 3747 people. One noted person from this town was Ben Hogan the famous pro golfer. Surrounding the town are ranches and farms. The per capital income for the town in 2000 was $11724 compared with a national average of $21587.

This old building just a block off the city square is in the process of being restored. The day we were there we did not see any signs reflecting the name of the building.

The Dr. Pepper plant is located just a block from the main intersection in downtown Dublin. All the facilities cover more than a city block.

hello. i would like to tell you a little about dublin, texas. it is my hometown and many others hometown including, ben hogan, johnny duncan (world re-nowned country singer), everett colborn (cowboy hall of fame for his Madison Square Gardens rodeo), Gene Autry had a ranch here that he bought from Everett Colborn call the Lightning C Ranch, Mary Ann Mayfield, (trick rider and famous rodeo rider), Truck (Richard) Stephens, drafted to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, and many many more people. Dublin is home to the oldest bank in the county of Erath, had the first street railway car in the state and was once the hub of central texas with three train depots, broom factory , ice plant, cotton gin...i think the building you saw was the grist mill...the old cabin was the oldest cabin in the area...the schools are very unique and elem and high school were built by hand by the townspeople, the gym, rock walls and little store were built by the WPA work relief program, the brick streets were made at thurber texas and put there by the WPA, there is a rock wall downtown also built by the work relief program, the Double Inn is there in town as the D.L. Harris historical home and many others that are being renovated in historic pride....dublin may not look like much at first glance but history here runs deep.....come back someday and take another look! we have rodeo museums, lyons museum and great bunches of information at the dublin library, check out the confederate wall, dublin hosted the largest confederate meeting for many years...overall, a great place to visit...:) come back to see us sometime!
