in front of a Don Quijote statue in Madrid Hola Todos!!
Today was super awesome. We went to the old city of Segovia which is about an hour north of Madrid. The drive through the countryside and seeing the mountains and green grass was beautiful. This city was exactly what I thought every city in Spain would look like...tiny streets and alleys, stone buildings, flowers in the window sills. it was absolutely gorgeous. We saw the aqueduct which used to carry water to the city. It was built during the time 1 B.C. and 1 A.D. and was used up until one hundred years ago. The architecture is amazing and the concept is so brilliant.
From there we went to a medieval castle which was sooo cool. There were knights in shining armor and cool furniture and stained glass. There was a fire that destroyed a lot of the decorations in many of the rooms, but it was recently restored. We even saw the King and Queens bedroom and throne room. I can't quite remember which King and Queen lived there...there are so many its hard to keep track. Learning about the history is so interesting to me.
We were let loose in the city to find

The castle our lunch. A couple of us went to a creperia where we got some delicious crepes. I though these were mainly a breakfast or desert food but these had all kinds of things inside. Mine had chicken, bacon, and mushrooms and it was really good. Little by little, with every restaurant I go to my Spanish is getting better.
Once we returned to Madrid we went to the Reina Sophia museum which used to be a hospital until the 60's. It holds a lot of contemporary art done by Picasso and Salvador Dali. I didn't quite enjoy this as much as the art museum we went to yesterday. Later in the night a few of us walked around and got dinner. I had some pasta and some sangria, a really popular spanish drink. I still can't get over how crowded the streets are and how many people there are going in to the many shops. Tomorrow is our last day on the Field study and we are going to the old city of Toledo. I'm really excited.
Hasta Luego!!

You are such a good writer!
That view of Segovia is breathtaking! I wouldn't mind hanging that picture in my living room! And those flowers in all the window sills, I bet all Spanish people are happy all the time because they get to look at such beautiful creations wherever they go :)
