Life has settled into a lovely routine: Wake up and have a coffee at the hotel, walk the length of Sairee beach and back whilst Chad swims half, shower then pop out for some brunch followed by a little siesta. Late afternoons we chill out on the beach and do a bit of snorkelling and reading (just finished Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but can‘t find the second one in the island bookshops!). In the evenings we have a can or two of Singha and some crisps whilst watching the sun set then head out to one of the many great restaurants for dinner and maybe catch an awesome fire show :-)

One morning we decided to go on a hike to another part of the island. We chose Tanote Bay (didn’t get there though!). We walked for about an hour or so and due to the lack of any signposts we ended up at Laem Thian, which was absolutely gorgeous. We went into the crystal clear waters for a bit of a snorkel and the fish went mental - there were soooooo many fish and they were not at all shy. They seemed to confuse us with food !!

Here are a few photos and videos to give you an idea of how hard life is ;-)

As people know, we like to move house a lot so in keeping with this, we have moved to another place a bit further down the beach. I am using some of my ’40 birthday treats’ (Chad promised me 40 treats for my fortieth birthday) for the new place :-)

Travellers’ Info:

Cheap place for essentials (water, beer and laundry) is 50M on the left up the road opposite the 7 Eleven in Sairee Village.
Excellent beach bbq at Sairee Cottage (120 bht) and King Crab (100 bht)
Great value buffet breakfast at Simple Life Restaurant (150 bht)

Trouble in Bangkok
Hi, myself and two friends are due to travel to Bangkok on Monday, most international embassies are advising not to travel to Thailand at all, but we would hope to fly directly down to Surat Thani and on to Koh Samui and Koh Phan Ngan as soon as our flight gets in. Could you please advise as to the state of affairs on the tourist islands? Is there much news coverage of the fighting in Bangkok and what if any is the general advice for tourists? Thanks so much, it would be a great help if you could give us any information at all! Peace out!x

Hi Lia, Island life on Koh Tao is laid back and peaceful, we have seen no protests, trouble etc at all. The news coveraqe is as good as it can be, CNN, Fox, BBC world news etc are shown here and you will get to read the Bangkok post if you want. Relax and have fun, cheers Chad
