Sprinkler Fun in Rutland Town
Playing with the little kids (and watching them play) is part of the fun in Rutland, VT. It the quintessential All American home town. We live in New York's Capital Region by happenstance of birth and employment; we stay here (Schenectady, Saratoga, Albany County areas) on purpose. Surely we remain primarily because of family and friends; but we also love the area and what it offers including its proximity to some very cool destinations a day or so away.
So many "quality of life" features lend them selves to tourism; and vice versa! Theatres, parks, galleries, quaint boutiques, sweet small towns, restaurants great and small, street fests, art shows, athletic events and sports venues from rivers and lakes to race courses and sports make up the fabric of where we live and why we love it here.
Photos comprise much of this entry - at the end you will find there is a second page of photos - hope we are not boring you with our vaca "slide show." Every destination in this crazy quilt of a photo piece is within a half day's drive of HOME. So, let's all go out and take a ride!
Here are some restaurants to add to the "best bet" list:
KARAVALLI - Indian Restaurant - Latham, NY - Wes highly recommends this - it's on our
Mr. Ding a Ling
It was a very summery "Americana" day in Rutland. short list for a visit soon!
SCCC Casola Dining Room - German week - white table cloth three course meal for two $47 including a $3 corking fee - so nice to chat with the student waiters. Nice local art on the walls including the wonderful fabric art of Peg Foley.
Chez Pierre - Wilton, Saratoga Springs - Every year to celebrate their anniversary month - April - Chez Pierre has a $19.47 pix fixe three course dinner including wine in addition to their regular fine menu. The complimentary pate and baguettes are to die for.
