The combination of working spring break and being sick has had me stuck on the ship this week. I’ve pretty much just been sleeping or working. Today however, I made it a priority to get off the ship. Otherwise, it will be another nine days before I’ll be on land again - next cruise we’re off to Hawaii!

So, after a good sleep in, I got off the ship. We’re docked in La Paz, but the pier is actually quite a distance away from town. Thankfully, free shuttles operate from the pier. I took the one that went to the beach. Compared to the Caribbean beaches I’ve gotten used to seeing, the ones of the West Coast we’ve been going to have been rather underwhelming. Today’s beach was really nice though. The sand was quite rocky but the water was beautiful. The sky was bright blue, the water was bright blue. Beautiful.
At the beach I laid out on the sand and finished my book. I took a long stroll and took some pictures. I love the pictures I got today. A vendor was selling fresh mangoes - my favourite. So I enjoyed a nice juicy mango on the beach.

I took the shuttle back to the ship, had a quick shower, then went back out again. This time I took the other free shuttle that goes into town. I walked along the main strip a bit, taking pictures and seeing some of the town. I found a quaint little alley with restaurants in it. I sat on a patio, had some guacamole and chips - the last I’ll have in Mexico! - and took advantage of some free wifi.

The bus ride back to the ship was interesting. It was the final shuttle of the day so it was packed. And the majority of people on that shuttle had taken advantage of the cheap beers that day. It was a rowdy ride. I did my best to tune it out and instead stared out the window at the incredible sun set over the water.

Now I’m back on the ship with two days at sea ahead. It’s only two more days, but they seem so long because it’s so busy and stressful right now! However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel . . . After this cruise ends, we will be boarding passengers for our Hawaiian cruise! We’ll have five days at sea and then at long last we’ll arrive in Hawaii. I’ve been counting down to this for this entire contract - and before that! The best parts are now to come . . . Stay tuned for Hawaiian adventures!
