Sunshine
For the first time in days the sun is out! The sun has found it's way to Florence - Yipeeee!
Today was our second and final day in Florence. Got started by the usual hotel breakfast and then we needed to return the rental car to the airport. Then off to do some sightseeing.
Although Florence is small enough to walk around we got quickly oriented with the bus system to get us from sight to sight. They have these cool little electric buses that zip through the downtown area. Our first stop was the Accademia where we got to see the original David done by Michelangelo.
Then back on the bus for a wild ride through narrow cobblestone streets to the Uffizi Gallery, which is supposed to be the greatest collection of Italian paintings anywhere. For the first time we encountered a line but we only had to wait about 30 minutes. Lines for these places can be hours and hours during the peak season so even though the weather is a little cool it is really nice to not have to fight lines and crowds.
