My flight to nz was on the 9th of February, so i we had nearly 3 weeks to sell the car. We stayed at Tom's family for 5 days before we moved to Suzanne (my parents know them). They had a lovely old victorian house in camberwell. We stayed there for 6 days and didn't really do much in the time. Went to the city a few times to put signs up in all the hostels and met a few people who were interested in the car. We cooked one nice german meal for the family (the food they cooked was always very good btw). At the last day of our stay we finally managed to sell the car, well we didnt really sell it but we had a deal with two other germans. They just wanted a mechanic to check it and we wanted to do all the paperwork on Monday. Anyway we moved to eltham on that saturday. Jonas worked for here as an au-pair for 4 weeks and the family invited us to stay. Eltham is quite a bit out of the city, it takes about 45 minutes with the train. We drove the car into the city
center on monday where we met the two other German and let a garage check the car. We had 3 hrs to kill so we went around Melbourne for a bit. Everything was alright with the car apart from some smaller things but yeah it was from 87 and had 326000km done. We did all the paperwork afterwards and we were happy that we sold the car. We didn't get as much as we hoped in the first place but we had a great car 5 months for a few hundred bucks each.
We enjoyed the week in Eltham not doing much really. The family had a new german guy (his name was jonas as well) working for them and we had a few funny nights drinking beer, watching movies and playing playstation 😉 we just enjoyed not living in the van (even if i miss it by now) but my last days in australia came and the last weekend... so we sold the car had a great time so obviously we had to do something good with this weekend. Tom invited us back to his house which was really good because it was way closer to the city.
before and after
more than 10.000 km so friday night we had a few beers (just a few of course), tom and rueben wanted to go to a little gig so we went there. very weird place really, the first bit was rap. well battles. then just rap and then some very different funky music. not the music i listen to every day but it was a really good night. we wanted to go surfing on saturday morning but just didnt get up so we had a quite day and went clubbing. Clubs in melbourne are just as fancy as Sydney, it was very different to the night before but definitely a very good last night out in melbourne.
Jonas left to tasmania on monday so we decided we wanted to see a bit more of melbourne on sunday. tom gave us two bikes and we did quite a big cycling tour through the city. We went to the botanic gardens crossed the city to port melbourne and went back along the sea. It was a really nice day and we had a bbq at the night. I worked for tom's father on monday, he is a furniter designer and needed some wood moved.
I
left Australia after 137 days, it didn't feel that long in some ways but it is really a long time ago i started in cairns but it was a really great time

Nice to follow your travels, Lennart
I have enjoyed reading about your adventures and seeing your pictures - really nice ones, by the way! Make sure you find time to make up an album or scrapbook of your experiences before you forget (I speak from experience!) XX Anna
