We are leaving the frozen wasteland of Minnesota USA with a projected temperature of 6 Farenheit (-16 C) and we should see temperatures in Bankok when we arrive tomorrow of about 93 Farenheit (38 C). A bit of a change, eh. It should be just the ticket to sooth these achy old bones.

Loren and I (Hal) have been traveling together and trading insults for over 20 years. Most of our travels have taken us backpacking through Mexico. You gotta wonder, how do these guys remain friends. Well, here's an example of Loren's travel stories, in his own words:

While on a recent driving trip alone, I decided to make a stop at one of those rest areas on the side of the road.
I went into the washroom.
The first stall was taken so I went to the second stall. I'd just sat down when I heard a voice from the next stall... Hi there, how's it going?"
Now I'm not the type to strike up conversations with strangers in washrooms on the side of the road. I didn't know what to say, but finally I said, "...Not bad..."
Then the voice said, "So, what are you doing?"

Would you buy a used blog from these guys?

I thought that was kind of weird, but I said, "Well, I'm just going to the bathroom, then I'm going back East..."
The voice interrupted, "Look, I'm going to have to call you back. Every time I ask you a question, this goober in the next stall keeps answering me!"

And to think I have to put up with this for 80 days! Oh well, at least I have hair.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Since my family and extended family are all out of town on Sunday (yesterday) and Monday (today) I returned early with my 19-year-old granddaughter's car to get us to the airport. We are actually doing this in reverse order: Automobile, Train, Plane but you get the idea. I used her car to pick up Loren, parked at the train station, took the light rail to the airport, got on the plane to start our adventure. Grandma and granddaughter will stop by the train station on the back into town and go merrily along their way.

We on the other hand are reinacting the movie script with Steve Martin playing my part and John Candy doing Loren's. It's an oldie but a goodie -- if you haven't already, you gotta see it!

A Movie Re-enactment -Why hadn't I figured that out.
Now I have to watch the movie, so I can see just where this is going! (I'll take any old excuse to veg out with a movie) Just an FYI - "I got an invitation to tea at the House of Commons!!!!" And, yes, that is the one in London. Won't be going, but was nice to be invited. Love, Elsa

Invitation to tea?
Elsa, Did I ever tell you that the two of us were once invited for a tatoo at the House of Pain in Playa del Carmen? Didn't matter, we didn't accept that one either.
