Bon Voyage
Here’s our first post from the ship. We started the morning by repacking to get our bags outside the door by 7:30. Then headed to breakfast a French Baguette shop around the corner. I had a chocolate croissant and John had a Buffalo Milk Mozzarella Balsamic vinegar and prosciutto Baguette. Both were good and then we headed back to get our Shuttle ticket which was for the 2nd bus scheduled to leave about 11:30 for the ship. We did a quick trip to the Souvenir shop to get postcards etc.

We headed down to the lobby about 10:30 and the line to check out was very long because those that just got off the ship were now checking into the hotel. Finally decided to fill out the Express Checkout so that saved 20-30 mins. They called our bus about 11:20 and we headed downstairs (the lobby is on the 8th floor) and then found the bus arrangements were about as well organized as those the airport the other day. We were about 4 people away from getting on the bus when it filled up. The first couple that didn’t make it were elderly and not in any shape to stand a long time but they finally got a chair from the café for him to sit. It was 30 mins before the next bus showed up which was a smaller bus but we made it on for the quick ride to the ship. Then we found out they’d given us the wrong Health Forms at the hotel and had to redo those. Once that was done it quickly thru the checkin steps of XRay, Immigration, Photo/Keys, and of course the Welcome aboard Photo.

We headed up to the Lido and lunch. We both had the roast pork which was very good then gave John a quick tour of the ship. The cabins weren’t ready till just after 2. John’s luggage came pretty quickly but mine was a bit slower. Being on the Lower Promenade deck does make it easier to get to the Life Boat Drill which wasn’t too bad since the weather was reasonable and most of the people on the boat were there so they didn’t have to keep calling their cabin #s. It was then time for Mass before heading to the Dining for dinner. We have open Seating and were seated with 3 other couples (Virgina, Texas, and Cincinnati). We both had the prime rib and while mine was way too large a portion it was very good.

We set sail about the time we were eating dessert as he backed the ship almost under the Bridge before heading out. It’s supposed to be a bit rough for an hour or two. We headed out to get some photos then figured we should get the blog done and get the internet signed up to get our 20 free minutes. The signal isn’t strong enough in the cabin so will need to head upstairs to get this posted.
