"If you see a croc then form a circle facing outwards with you guide in the middle. And hold on TIGHT!". Yet another Humourous Ozzy Tour Guide (Read No Worries by Mark McCrum (thanks Kerry!)). Except this one was from the north of Scotland, not from North Tropical Queensland.

We all grouped at the offices of the rafting company - about 15 europeans from mission beach, and about 120 Japanese from Cairns. We were then bussed again out up the Tully to the start of our rafting experience. We formed into groups of 6 for the adventure and I ended up with 4 british girls - Katie, Georgina, Nicole and Danielle and one belgium guy, whose name was apparantly Carrot.

The rafting was amazing. Fast, Rough, and Hard Work. But not too fast, or too rough, or too much like hard work! We managed to flip our boat over thanks to Carrot moving from his seat on a sharp dropoff despite our guides best efforts to get him to stay in his seat - but it was good to do it. It would have been nice to have done it somewhere a little less rocky and rough however -

the injuries sustained were many, but none were severe. In particular being the person who actually hit the rock we were going over I sustained a massive bruise on my arse. At least the girls all agreed to form an orderly queue and rub it better at the end of the day. Actually they agreed to... but somehow dissapeared later on... hmmm.... We loaded ourselves back into the boat with considerable effort, and carried on our elaborate dance and song of LEFT... RIGHT... IN THE BOAT... TO YOUR SEATS....FORWARD.... BACKWARD... OOOOOHHHH SHIT WERE GOING TO DIE!!!!. And that was the guide.

Despite the blatant commericalism and the large amount of people of the river it was a great trip - and far warmer than Chamonix Dan!

Beware the guides.
Lol I've white water rafted in Tully. There was an Italian-Australian guide with a liking for Catholic school girls. The sense of humour obviously hasn't change. In other news I've spent all of four hours out of my pyjamas today and Liam is going to Azerbaijan.
