Up early again this morning in order to get the City Cat to Riverside before walking to Central Station, unfortunately we missed the first City Cat which in turn made us late for the first train of the day. We had to wait an hour before catching the train heading to Nambour and we would depart at Beerwah, where a courtesy coach would be waiting to take us on to Australia Zoo.
First impressions -WOW! There was no queuing and as the owner of the hostel lent us his discount card we saved 20%.
First stop the Crocoseum, en route we encountered people feeding the elephants, rhinoceros iguanas and beautiful scenery.
Once in the Crocoseum we were entertained whilst waiting for Bindi to arrive to do her singing and dancing on stage - what an entrance - 4x4 followed by 3 elephants who were then hand fed. Bindi had an hour on stage singing/dancing about endangered species/animals (I was asked to get up and dance but kindly declined the offer). This was followed by reptile show where snakes were on show and one python was put in the water, then a bird show displaying native birds of Australia and finally what we had all been waiting for the crocodiles! Unfortunately the main act (death roll) failed as the crocodile refused to part with the dummy bunny and instead the line was cut and he swallowed it whole!
We then had a walk around the zoo taking in all the other animals/birds/reptiles etc this included koalas, kangaroos, wombats, dingoes, Tasmanian devils, alligators and birds of prey.
What a day! We would definitely recommend this as a must see/do!
This was also our first look at Brisbane at night, we were able to take more photos on the City Cat on the way back to the hostel at Hawthorne Road.
