Note my awesome photography skills showing the point of impact with the water Yo yo yo!
Well it's Christmas Eve afternoon and I've miraculously not started drinking yet so I thought I'd take the chance to use my sobriety to do some typing...
I've made it up north to Paihia and it's really beautiful here. I know you guys are having loads of snow and miserableness but there isn't a cloud in the sky here and I just chilled out down the beach with my book and having a paddle. Oh and I finally got some "Fush N Chups" (that's a Maori impression). I've not had Hoki before but quite liked it.
Anyway, got here about 9 last night when I was meant to be here at 7.15 (boooo) so decided I'd earnt a quick beer and maybe some sort of slaggy burger for dinner. Well me being me didn't get any food and came home from the bar at 1am. I did however meet most of the crew on the boat trip I'm doing Monday (google "Rock the boat" and you'll see what I'm up to) so that should be fun and also in a bizarre coincidence I was introduced to two of the staff members "friends from Queenstown" who
turned out to be an English couple who had sat right next to me when I did my boat trip on Lake Taupo...Hopefully I've convinced them to join me on Monday and I think it will be an even better trip than originally perceived.
What else can I tell you of my adventures....Went to the Maori Treaty Ground Place Thing. I wasn't really that interested if I'm honest but as I'm in the same town of what is basically the most important piece of Maori history I felt rude not going for a look.
So what of Jesus' big day tomorrow? Well, at about 11am there is a hostel swim in the sea and then back here for 12 for a champagne brunch and this will be followed by everyone mucking in contributions to dinner. I couldn't really be bothered though so invested in several big bars of chocolate for pudding - that seems fair right?
I also got a 1.75 litre xmas present for myself (picture attached) which came with a bean bag. Whilst an excellent free gift, it's joy is somewhat diminished by the lack of any frakking beans to put in it...but hey, I
have 2 bean bags for when I move out again :D
Guess that's it for now so have a great Christmas and I look forward to what the New Year will bring.
