Taca flight to San Jose via San Salvador
Well, we made it!
Showed the land-lady how to take care of Suki (my kitten) before we left, then it was off in a taxi to the airport.
Check-in was fine, although flight was full, as many flights were cancelled early in the day due to bad thunderstorms in Tegus this morning.
After a bit of a scare, we were through and boarding. They forgot to give Walter his immigration paper back at check-in and they wouldn't let us through to board so we had to go back and get the green paper from the check-in desk.
Flight was also delayed and we feared missing our connection in El Salvador, but they held that flight, as many people were delayed. My backpack was the only bag we checked, as it contained liquids, but once in San Jose, I got that just fine too. The flight from El Salvador to Costa Rica was great. It was a BEAUTIFUL new plane. Comfortable ride.
After a $23 and 40 minute taxi ride (mucho trafico!) we arrived here at Tranquilo Backpackers. $24 for a tiny private room with shared bathroom, but the atmosphere is nice and the reception people are super friendly.
Not sure what the plan is for tonight. We may walk somewhere to get dinner. Just glad Walt is with me.
Tomorrow the plan is to find an ATM, eat the hostel's free breakfast, then head on a 4 hour chicken bus ride to La Fortuna. This is where the real adventure begins. Tomorrow we go on a night tour of a volcano and then to the Baldi Hot Springs! Excited.
As they say in Costa Rica, "Pura Vida!" (Pure Life)

Pura Vida
Costa Rica is beautiful, Aunt Kathryn and I spent a week on the Pacific coast a couple of years ago and did a bus tour through the mountains and over by the volcano national park. Make sure you take in the Zip line, it is one of the biggest in the world. Happy Holidays....be safe...!!

Cool!
Im shure you will have a great time there! You should try to take a wild ride around the Arenal Lake. It is only 110 Km in a 2 day bike ride or 4 hours by car. Good Luck! Erick
