Sorry to compress a lot of this but internet costs us money and better some than none at all.

Today we spent much of the day driving up to Exmouth from Canarvon, though we briefly visited Coral Bay which is a little town with sea based activities. It boasted probably the nicest looking sea Ive ever seen, white to turquoise to blue.

Once in Exmouth We drove around a little while (seeing our first living kangaroo) and decided to stay in Exmouth town itself rather than closer to the beaches, this was a good choice as it was the best site to date with good facilities (and a few stray emus)

We got straight on with the main activity of the day today; Snorkelling. We drove out to Turquoise Bay (quite aptly named) after renting some snorkels and flippers. the beach was gorgeous and I was straight into the water, the Ningaloo coral reef is only 30m from the beach here. Suse sat out at first building up the courage (shes terrified of sharks) after a bit of contemplation and reassurance from me that there were no sharks about she joined in.

Its really beautiful down there and it really was the highlight of the trip so far for me. Saw lots of fish, coral and odd looking things.

Sadly it came at a cost of me being badly sunburnt.

That night we had a little chat with some people on the campsite on a Western Exposure tour, which was nice to chat with other travellers.

Very sore from sunburn we set off from Exmouth to the long drive to Onslow, seeing more Kangaroos on the way!

That was about the highlight, Onslow is a pretty run down salt mining town which didnt really offer much in terms of sightseeing and entertainment so really it was just a rest stop for the night on the push north.

Went to Karratha today which is a modern, reasonably large town with a big shop and mall. Its also very expensive for campsites due to the influx of temporary workers there.

We picked up an FM transmitter to listen to our ipods when driving, a much welcome accessory!

We didnt really do much else that day as it was another day mainly driving.

In the morning we checked out Karratha's central park which was a little bit of a let down, though the park was quite pretty, the water features were inactive and it was pretty tiny. So we stocked up on ice and water and headed for Port Hedland

Port Hedland is the busiest port in Australia and ships iron ore out from the WA mines. We saw some huge trains, i mean like 4 mile long trains! and massive oil tankers at the docks. Its quite an industrial place but it seems quite modern and active (unlike Onslow was).

Today we were going to go to the eighty mile beach caravan park, halfway between Port Hedland and Broome. Sadly it involved a 10km unsealed road and Samantha doesnt like unsealed roads. So we decided to make th big push to Broome, the longest and hottest drive so far. (about 8 hrs straight driving)

Suse passed out in a Roadhouse toilets and I ended up coming to her rescue with cold water. But she was fine a few minutes later so we headed off again.

Arrivied in Broome about teatime and watched the sunset over Cable beach (in top 5 world beaches a few years ago) which looks lovely. Saw some huge bats, like the size of Suse, on the walk back to the campsites. Theyre in and among the trees above our camper too.

Suse had a scare when a cricket joined her for a shower and I think I sweated out 75988678938 litres of water. A very very hot nights sleep. The first without any form of sheets.

So that brings me to today, where we have plenty planned to do, staying in Broome a few nights I think as its great. Hope everyones fine at home!!

- Rob!
