Chopsticks
A New Experience Well folk now that I have finally got a hold of my new you beaut Laptop all 10in of it (thankyou Mr Lee from the bottom of my wallet...$599 down to $430....IIII love Bing Leeee...Rob the Computer Market in Mong Kok couldnt even beat Mr Lee!..good call), it goes without saying travelling with 2 spacecadets FB time is at a premium its 4am in the morning just quietly.
Let’s not beat about the bush and tell the story so far. Hong Kong which appears to never sleep has 1 peak hour and that runs 24/7 is absolutely AMAZING. The way the place ticks is amazing (have I mentioned HK is amazing) we rocked up at 11.30pm and the place was rocking everything was open , the neon lights, streets full of people, shops, the smells, famous street markets doing a roaring trade and eating joints well lets just say princess and I have mastered eating with chopsticks (so cool!)...didn’t have a choice!
We rocked up to Chunking Mansions, OK it was different we wanted adventure and promised to keep an open mind, and Rob when you said everyone stays there you weren't wrong, for the rest of you think
cnr Queen st and Auburn Rd at lunch time ....you get the picture. Had to run the gauntlet getting into the place after being accosted by peddlers’ for fake watches (Rolex no less), handbags in the mornings! and tailor made suits all day long long. Maybe NEXT time (are you hearing me groupies there WILL be a next time) I'll bring an empty suitcase, ah stuff it I'll buy that there too. We got our Octopus card for travelling on public transport as opposed to Oyster card in London, Went up The Peak on the Tram Car and saw the HK skyline from up top but it was really windy and hazy for the whole time we were there so pics aren’t so good. The Light show of the buildings and skyscrapers (which are famous in their own right) along the harbour is another tourist thingy and is held each evening at 8pm Nice show not be missed.
Folks we have a beautiful harbour but nothing beats HK harbour at Night with the lights emitting from the buildings. You gotta see it. After that we walked along the promenade called the Avenue of the Stars and shared some quality time
Komoto
Just Luv this with Bruce (as in Bruce Lee) spacecadets never heard of him...blasphemy! Jet Li and Mr Jackie Chan.
The HK MTR is awesome just as good as the one in Athens so the Greeks can do something! Went on a tram ride which took 1 hour from one end of Hong Kong island to the other for $2 and the Star Ferry which crosses from one side of the harbour to the other for $0.60. Took the MTR to Lantau Island, climbed up the steps and got close and personal with the big Buddha and at the nearby Monastery. The locals were burning incense everywhere, I still prefer the smell of my cannabis and coconut sticks or matter of fact John's exhibit room....ha ha!
Coming down from the Big Buddha and Ngong Ping Town (which has a shop that just sells chop sticks..WTF) we caught the Cable car down which goes for 5km straight to the MTR station now with the wind blowing and extremely high up and steep lucky we didnt have the glass floor car otherwise people could of seen more that was needed. Top ride though, beats the easter show. Now for the big daddy of
Jackie Chan
Me and Jackie up close and Personal them all Well Sydney has Sexpo well HK has the Temple street Markets. You walk long enough you will come to the stalls!!! Naturally I brisked the space cadets past after I realised what they were selling...They were nice to demonstrate their products though.....Amazing place!!!
I realised the thing about HK it’s a place people will do or can do anything to make things happen, might look dodgy like the bamboo scaffolding (I thought that was just for special effects in Jackie Chan’s Rush Hour Movie) but it’s a different world to experience. Space is at a premium we had a Toilet which doubles up a shower you should’ve seen princess face! The way people live in those massive tower blocks is a sight to behold and I noticed they all have shopping malls underneath; HK seems to never miss an opportunity for a quick buck albeit they don’t seem to do coffee well! So for someone who likes to ‘do coffee’ there is a wonderful business opportunity Its an economic powerhouse they almost have a money exchange outlet to cater for the millions of economic and tourist visitors on every corner, and I think I used each one
Monastary
Gnong Ping Monastary of them!
Another sight in terms of scale is the shipping container docks, you couldnt dream of letting our waterside workers near them at the risk of bringing the world’s 13 largest economy to a standstill. The place is cheap has everything, it works somehow, easy to get around, and language no problem except 10km down the road I had to use hand signals just to by some locks! Best of all I’m going back to this amazing place one day just so I can make the hawkers squirm for my business and have noodles in Maccas I wonder if they serve with chopsticks!..........
BTW I managed to balance 2 Heinekens’ on my tray during extreme turbulence ....you all would of been proud of me! Whilst I’m on discount air carriers, Virgin Atlantic are no Emirates and bring a new meaning to flight food so I thought the meat pies in wrappers was quiet apt! Along with the V-Coke, V-Napkins, V-Channels, V-kids I think Mr Branson has made his point on Marketing.
ps after princess finishes doing her hair and FBing about her school formal 'she looked awesome btw' I can add that before we left she
Lights
Nathan Rd Lights got good news for an early offer from Australian Catholic University to do Primary School Teaching...how good is that! so when I get the next opportunity I'll fill you in on London as a precursor we have already experienced London’s weather (absolutely soaked) and want to move here immediately. Until next time groupies
Spyros and his space cadets
